Great Cannon Number 1

So I began my army with one of the most distinctive items of the Empire... a great cannon!

This is one of the old metal ones. I recovered it and its crew from my garage.

Painting Notes

Primer: Tamiya Spray Surface Primer/Plastic Metal (White)
"Wet Water": 10 parts Distilled Water to 1 part Liquitex Flow-Aid

All paints from Reaper's "Master Series" product line

Carriage:
1) 5:1 Wash Rainy Grey (5 parts "wet water" 1 part paint) over the white primer
2) Wheels and "trailer hitch" area were washed with 10:1 Earth Brown around the edges to suggest mud stains

Ammo Box:
1) Basecoat Earth Brown
2) Applied 5:1 Dragon Black Wash

Steel Metalwork
1) Painted Dragon Black (1:1 wet water to paint)
2) then Honed Steel
3) then fine highlights with Polished Silver

Cannon:
1) basecoated with Palomino Gold (1:2 wet water to paint)
2) then painted with Ancient Bronze
3) washed with 5:1 Earth Brown
4) then highlighted with Antique Gold
5) New Gold in only a couple of highlights.
6) Then 5:1 Dragon Black wash was touched by hand around the fine detail just to give it more definition.

Base:
The base is a 40mm x 80mm piece of sheet styrene, painted Earth Brown (Permanent Marker around the edges), then Woodland scenics flock (Earth blend for the ground and some clump foliage for the leafy stuff) which was attached via white Elmers (aka PVA) glue.
